Oil seal cross-reference and replacement checks

A matching part number identifies a candidate seal, not a guaranteed replacement. Confirm the complete dimensions, profile, material and operating conditions against the actual assembly before ordering.

How do I search an OE or seal part number?

Enter the full marking as printed on the removed part or drawing, including letters, suffixes and separators. If the search finds nothing, try the main reference and then the dimensions. Catalog search checks published product records; it is not a complete database of every manufacturer's parts.

What must match besides the reference number?

Compare the shaft diameter, housing bore and total width, then check the complete cross-section and installation arrangement. For stepped or cassette profiles, send all dimensions rather than reducing the part to three nominal numbers. Use the drawing to resolve different measurement conventions.

How do material and operating conditions affect the comparison?

Record the specified material or compound, fluid, temperature, pressure and shaft speed. A color or a similar appearance does not establish the material. If a listing omits a limit or tolerance, request confirmation for the proposed part; do not borrow a rating from another seal with the same size.

What if the marking is damaged or there is no search result?

Send photographs of both faces and the side profile, readable fragments of the marking, measured dimensions and the assembly reference. Note wear or damage that may have changed the measurements. No search result means that the catalog has not identified a candidate; it does not confirm that a replacement is unavailable.

What should a confirmed replacement quotation include?

Ask for the proposed part identification, drawing revision, material, agreed operating conditions and inspection criteria. Include quantity and delivery destination. Confirm price, sample availability and lead time in the quotation. Original manufacturers' references are used for identification and do not imply affiliation or approval.

Does an identical OE number guarantee interchangeability?

No. Treat the reference as a starting point and compare the full drawing, material and operating conditions. Obtain confirmation for the actual assembly before ordering.

Can I replace a seal using dimensions alone?

Dimensions narrow the candidates but do not establish the profile, material or operating limits. Provide the part marking, drawing or photos as well as the measured dimensions.

Does this search certify an OEM-approved replacement?

No. Search results show catalog candidates. They do not establish original manufacturer approval, affiliation or suitability for a particular assembly.
